What is a Lead?

A lead is a person or business that shows interest in your product or service but hasn't yet made a purchase.
In simple terms, it's a potential customer .

Types of Leads (with Examples)  

There are mainly two types of leads  based on the level of interest and qualification :

  1. Marketing Qualified Lead (MQL)  

        Definition:  A lead who has shown interest in your brand or content but isn’t ready to buy yet.

        How They’re Identified:  By actions like downloading an eBook, signing up for a newsletter, or visiting specific pages.

        Example: 

        Someone fills out a form to download a free guide about digital marketing from your website.

  2. Sales Qualified Lead (SQL)

    • Definition: A lead who is more likely to become a paying customer and is passed to the sales team.

    • How They’re Identified: By high-intent actions like requesting a demo, pricing page visits, or direct contact.

    • Example:

      A user calls your office asking about pricing plans or schedules a meeting with your sales team.
