The diameters (lines through the center) of an ellipse are its main and minor axes.
The diameter of the major axis is the largest, while the diameter of the minor axis is the smallest.
If their lengths are equal, the ellipse is a circle.

The longest diameter of an ellipse is called the major axis.

The ellipse's shortest axis is called the minor axis.
